I'd concur - NAT is a major defense in and of itself - Larger commercial
entities need a separate DMZ (sometimes) but that's usually because they
wish to host services specifically intended for the public - such as a
website or publicly accessible ftp server.
It's my opinion that the little router + firewall combos (like the Vigor
boxes) are ideal for almost all SOHO requirements - I have yet to see an
environment where a DMZ is really needed, other than as practice for
work or hobby interest.
