Disassembling a remote control (and still have it working ;-)

Hi,

I would like to open up a standard remote control and put some "Heavy
Duty Usage" push buttons to replace the Volume Up/Down ones.
The whole thing will then be reboxed and hidden so aesthetics no
problem.

Main question - how can I attach the wires (from the external push
buttons) to the flaky carbon layered grid on the remote pcb. Guess
soldering won't work too well on carbon so glueing may be an option -
but what glue and wires to use etc..

All thoughts welcome.

rgds Rob.
