Thats about where I got to too!... I guess this is a bit of a holy grail
at the mo.

What do you guys do about getting messages out of your HA system? There
was chat about using the Slimp3's to display info. My only problem with
that is the fact that the screen is small. Trying to read that from the
sofa would be a problem :)

Is the answer to use audio announcements? (as long as you dont end up
with the house from Demon Seed - /me shudders)

Or are we trying to do things 'on the cheap' too much - do there exist
pre manufactured systems that do this?
