Dont use solid core cable, its not designed for the connectors and does not
meet BS4737 which may be a problem if you need an alarm company to maintain
or install remote signaling.
The correct way to terminate is at the panel end, bring the cables into the
panel, strip back to just where they enter the metal box, twist the earths
together, sleave and teminate into the nearest earth connector, idealy
right
next to the entry hole. Keep the earth tails as short as possible and away
>from
interference the cable run has picked up into the inside of the metal box.
Put tape around the end in the detector so no earth strands can short out
when the lid goes back on.
