Keep an eye on NetRemote - www.netremote.org - the direct IR
support isn't great yet, but it's still early days for that.

It uses CCF format with a few extensions e.g. alpha transparency of
PNG images, word-wrapped text on buttons and frames, and can use the
full screen size. Most people use it to control a PC (using Girder)
over a WiFi link. There are various plugins either available now or
on the cards - I think someone is planning a plugin for Homeseer.

Because of the use of WiFi you can get feedback from the PC e.g. to
show which song is currently playing in J River Media Center (there's
a plugin for this).

If your PC has something like a RedRat then you can use that to
transmit IR commands.
