RE: New UK Building Regs. Will Outlaw DIY Wiring
I can see the point, tbh - our first flat was an electrical nightmare
that almost caught fire when you turned the hall light on, and the metal
case of the outside light at the front door was live when it was
switched on!!
If, in this context, "the boys" are those guys who actually know
what
they are doing... jobs for the boys aint a bad idea.
I'm a bit peeved, as I'm hoping to do a re-wire at some point, and this
will make it more expensive...
but if it deters even a couple of the people like my uncle (who replaced
not one, but ALL of the fuses in his fusebox with nails, and made up a
handy little two-plugged extension cable so that he could run the whole
house from one of his heaters (that were on a special low priced
supply))... then it's a good thing.
I'm actually wondering how hard it is to get the required qualification
:D
