Nah, it's to "align" us with Europe :/

As of 1 April 2004 (you couldn't have picked a better date if you tried),
the cores of T&E will follow the same colours as used in flex - brown
(phase) & blue (neutral).

It gets even more interesting when you see that Three Phase supply colours
are being changed from Red, Yellow, Blue to Brown (L1), Black (L2), and
Grey
(L3).

An overlap period exists so existing colours can be used up to 1st April
2006 - after that it's new colours only!
