Cheers Kevin - it has been an incredible investment in time, and I doubt
I would have gotten this far if I had realised how long it would take up
front!

Yep I have used a combination of the TCP/IP lean code, the PIC Ethernet
Stack 9basically the same code tweaked about a bit) and the source code

For hardware, I started with a Proton.net board, and now have a working
breadboard wired design. I'm hoping to have a proper PCB before
UKHA2004, but (as you know!!) these projects tend to happen on a very
pedestrian (almost glacial) pace..
