RE: Re: Interfacing With Ethernet
I may as well pitch my Hat into the ring here - I have a working prototype
=
(albeit buggy as hell right now) of a circuit using :
1 RJ45 socket with integrated magnetics and LEDs (hence no transformer
need=
ed)
1 Realtek RTL8019A Ethernet Chip
1 20Mhz XTAL
I'm using the PIC 18F series chips for more horses, more memory etc.
My demo pings, does NTP lookups, and reports the source, destination and
cl=
ass of xPL messages - still working on DHCP and full xPL configuration.=20
I'm reckoning that a price of somewhere around =A330 a board is about
right=
, but I'm *really* hesitant about getting into the UKHA_D
"bargain" mindset=
.=20
Over and over in my business life I see that people regard things that
they=
pay very little for as having very little value, and I can easily see peop=
le bitching and whining about a board not doing absolutely everything they
=
want, even though it costs a fraction of other options that do even less!!
