My thinking is that ethernet to PIC is all that is needed really as stuff
like TW523 or 1-wire requires some logical control which is where the pic
chip comes in. In the case of 1-wire the pic chip reads the values and
takes care of the 1-wire protocol and then just communicates back the
result in a text format.  This is where xPL come in allowing the ethernet
broadcast to be picked up, it what they were designed for.

That type of thing sounds ideal.  The pricing looks reasonable to,
especially as there would be few extra components on the PIC side just a
load of programming to do.
