A PIII 800 is overkill for a mailserver.  Exchange is bollocks, don't
use it.  Unless you *really really really* need the proprietary features
it offers, it's a complicated, unreliable, expensive waste of time.

Get yourself a nice simple Linux machine, set up Exim and
Courier-POP/IMAP, leave it connected up in a corner, and then forget
about it until it's time to lay new carpet.
