Just a thought ... would a fan from a 3-wire CPU cooler be of any use ?

Isnt the 3rd wire for speed control / monitoring ?

Thanks, Phil. I'd already tried CPC and RS and, as you
suspected, it's the 3-wire bit that's the problem. Dorothy Bradbury (from
eBay ?) was also very helpful, but again, only 2-wire fans.
