RE: [OT] Buildng a concrete base
Thanks Mark/Tim.
Tim - I'm not sure where to get the shuttering - where did you get yours
and what type was it?
My base is very close to my drive luckily although there is a 8ft fence
in the way - how high can they pour from?

Subject: Re: [ukha_d] [OT] Buildng a concrete base
I just built a 10x8 base for the same purpose. I found useful info on
www.ablemix.co.uk and a few of the other national concrete suppliers.
In the end when it came to pouring the base I went with a local supplier
who promised smaller lorries for easier access. This was true and
although 7.5 tonnes isn't really a small truck it did allow for easier
access. I also took a lot of care when I made the shuttering to ensure
it was square and level and screwed the gravel boards to posts driven in
- this allowed easy levelling and made the whole thing rigid prior to
the concrete pour. The concrete pour was a cakewalk.
There was a tiny mishap as the bloke driving the truck parked it on the
lawn (all 6 wheels) after some pretty heavy rain and was then amazed
that it was stuck - Need less to say it made a mess of te hplace I will
try and dig out a picture of the whole "amusing" incident.
Good luck,
Tim.
