RE: Is this possible with BlueTooth?

Hi,

The thing about 100m range (as I read it) is that both devices must
support it and due to the power consumption phones only (AFAIK) support
10m. If you think about it although your phone will be able to receive
a signal 100m from the base point, it can only send back one 10m away so
the device will never get anything back from your phone... That's how I
understand it anyway.
They spam me all the time about things that improve reception in tunnels
and stuff, maybe it actually works!!? I know they have something in the
Canary Wharf underground shopping arcade, but I expect this is only
available on an industrial scale, like the things they are installing in
the tube.
I also live in a deep basement flat, and although my g/f cant get a
vodaphone signal (which she gets a strong one on ground level) I get a
full 3 signal (not that I would ever recommend them!) maybe its worth
experimenting and changing networks if there is a stronger signal about?

Subject: [ukha_d] Is this possible with BlueTooth?

I live in an area in central London where cellphone reception is
poor at best and in the basement the signal is strong enough to ring
on incoming calls but not enough to have a conversation.
My question is: given that there are now BlueTooth adaptors/access
points with 100 meter range and multi-device connection support; is
there a way to have the phone and a headset connect to a BT "hub"
which would allow me to leave the phone in a "good cellphone
reception spot" and have the headset connected to the same BT hub??
This
would let me keep the phone on the ground or 1st floor and use
the extended range BT hub as a sort of repeater between the phone
and the headset. Is this feasible/possible?
Failing that, does anyone know how a cellular signal might be
boosted inside an home?

Thanks

Keyvan
