RE: Digital CCTV recording

Yes - exactly that. An alternative to the real time DSP card, although
obviously not real time. Nice that you can configure the layout though -
even thought about sending it keystrokes via Girder to automate the
screen layout but not done that yet (not sure if the Geovision s/w has
keystroke support for changing layouts and swapping cameras?).

I do occasionally get UPS alerts popping up over the display - but I
just need to configure them not to.

What do you get out of the SVideo ? - is it the main screen displayed by
Geovision ?

I'd also recommend the Geovision hardware/software - I've got the 650
card after recommendation from Dean.

Excellent!!! - 6 cameras (colour and B+W mix) recording on motion
detect
(which works REALLY well) with about 110 Gb for video storage. After
4-6
weeks, I've still got 70 Gb free. You can also set individual cameras
for constant record.

Incidentally, I also take an S-Video feed from the camera server
graphic
card (standard TV out) and use this to feed TV's around the house (via
my video matrix switcher) as well as PC/Internet/IPaq feeds.

Has anyone got any recommendations for digital CCTV systems?

I'm looking for a system to connect to just the four cameras which
will
simply record continuously onto the internal hard drive.

I had a quick google but there appears to be loads on the market, so I
thought I'd see if anyone here has had any good or bad experiences to
pass on.

To get the topic someway back on track, it'd be nice if the recorder
could be networked allowing streaming of the CCTV recordings, to be
played back over any PC. Failing that simply a modulated output fed
onto
the TV network would allow any TV to watch the recordings (It'd just
be
a problem for the control then).

TIA

Steve
