Maybe not so Dean - SliMP3 server does indeed provide a web interface and
whilst normally tied to Slim players like the SliMP3 / Squeezebox /
Soundbridge it can also serve a standard mp3 stream to whatever, eg WinAMP

It treats attached software 'mp3' playuers as just another SliMP3 so they
immediately become recognised by the Server and any other application like
the xAP SliMP3 connector as 'mp3 players' . They can then be controlled via
the SliMP3 web interface or xAP which is great. I have several SliMP3's and
a couple of WinAMP clients off my SliMP3 server - all working via xAP.

One thing though - the WinAMP clients can't be synched with the SliMP3
players or each other due to the buffering issues. Also there is a 'delay'
as you select and change tracks on the WinAMP clients due to the buffering
in the client itself. Some other front end software that controls WinAMP
directly would avoid this. There are many apps that control WinAMP
directly.
