Has anyone here use a mini itx motherboard (fanless one) in a HTPC setup?

How does it perform? is it powerful enough?

Also is one able to put in an additional sound card like a creative live!
so that I can get digital out?

i.e. use up the only PCI slot?

I basically want a silent HTPC.
