I have considered alternative routes, the only one that would be
acceptable is going out to the M40 and then travelling down that. It
would of course add 40 miles each day, which is an interesting side
effect from an environmental point of view. Speed cameras forcing us
to drive further or forcing us on to 'rat runs' :-( I think the cost
of the additional miles would probably outweigh the cost of a gps
based detector.

Well it's a possibility, though I guess I still have to remember to
turn it on as I come into the 30 zone! If I do get a new car then it
will have cruise control I guess so probably no point in fitting an
after market one at this stage.
