My experiance with cheap filters is the same. Was talking to a guy in the
know,
and the cheap ones have a single inductor in line with one leg of the
phone, the
good ones have 2. With only one you stuff up the balance of the line if you
have
a long cable connected to the filter, *or any device that has an alternate
path
to ground* like a dialup modem in a PC, or something else thats powered.
