If you use a pogo-pin modchip (like the Xecuter 2.3 Lite Plus) no
soldering is required. I wouldn't go near my Xbox with a soldering
iron, but modded mine very easily with one of these. A little bit of
patience is required to get the D0 pin lined up exactly, but otherwise
it's straightforward.
