Actually he has Analog cable TV so the EPG is not necessary - just a button
press or timer to record the incoming signal just like a video.

Subject: [ukha_d] Hard Disk Based VCR replacement recommendations
Hi,
A friend wants to replace his VHS video recorder with a hard disk based
alternative.
His RQs:
* Cheap - i.e. upto 200 quid mark
* VHS or better quality
* Doesn't need to have DVD-writer in it
* Ideally has integrated EPG, but not necessary
* As easy to use as a video
Grateful for all recommendations.
Regards,
-Dan
