RE: Re: Modify PSU of Kiosk PC
That was exactly how I did mine. For the CPU cooling I removed the HS/FAN
assy and replaced it with a larger HS - no fan attached. I put one of the
acousti-fan units on the lid in line with the vents above the CPU and put
the thermistor among the HS vanes. I did check and even with the lid
removed (no forced cooling of the CPU) the HS runs at around 36 deg C.
I did find that the PSU board produces some heat - without the acousti-fan
the case gets hotish (sorry couldn't find a more subjective way to describe
it if I tried) above the PSU board. It is helpful to use the acousti fan
simply to pull some air through the unit. The case then runs cool. The
Seagate quite HDD makes more noise than the cooling!
By the way has anyone procured longer screen connection cables? I have been
in contact with Meritec in the US and have a price for 12" and
24" - according to the MP3CAR forum a 24" will just about work. I
have not ordered yet but may do so in the next week or so (just need to get
my finger out and send them some images of the inverter power and touch
cables as they may also be able to help).....anyone interested?
On the other hand Dave Mc. might know of a local source....
