Automating old sash windows

I have a room in which there is a large old sash window that is
fairly inaccessible due to the location of a large desk,it is the only
window. Because of this it is rarely opened but the room is used a lot as
an
office. Summer approaches again and the room gets stuffy. The sash window
is well maintained and properly balanced and I wondered if anyone knew of
any automation mechanisms for such windows, preferably that also secured
the
window from being lifted when open (burglar) - and/or locked the window
when
closed. The house is listed so nothing too 'Heath Robinson'. Although
motorised would be much preferred one of those remote 'pole/hook' type
handles with some screw thread mechanism would perhaps suffice.

TIA Kevin

PS - Moving the desk isn't an option..
