Hi Anthony-im-not-the-police
The vaults were originally two v damp, fairly useless areas under the road
which runs outside the house. They are very common in Bath as most of the
older houses have them. One would have been used for coal storage ( with a
hatch in the road above ) The other for laundry and was traditionally
equiped with a boiling bowl, sink and drain.
They are going to become a playroom/home cinema room (room 3 on the plan)
and a storage/utility area ( room 1+2 ). View the plan here

The black things are my attempt at fitting 48 10w halo lights in the 60mm
void behind the plasterboard. Pict1429 is a good example. I have a run of
2.5mm t&e to each light position. String is attached to the end of
this
cable and taped over a ceramic tile which has been glued ( silicon ) to the
damp proofing membrane. The tile is there to spread any heat generated by
the 10w bulb. The idea is, when plasterboarded, I drill a 22mm hole at
each
light position, fish about for the sting, pull the cable through, attached
the light fitting and push back up........I'll let you know if it works as
I'm giving it a go this weekend.

Interesting pics Jeff. What was it and what is it going to be? Also what
are the black square things taped to the ceiling?
Regards
Anthony
