CM12U

I have a CM12U that I haven't used for a long while, although it has
been powered up for probably at least 6 months. On attempting to fire
it via a girder plugin today and having no luck, I decided to
investigate further. Upon opening the case, I was greeted by the
distinct smell of a failed component and a waxy deposit on the inside of
the case, a capacitor I presume but can't see any that look particularly
sick.
Has anyone else had one of these fail like this? Is it a common fault?
Don't particularly want to replace it with another one only for it to go
the same way.
Any suggestions?

Regards

James
