LOL
I read that somewhere too, however the amount of genuine mail I get is
enormous (mailing lists etc), but the amount of spam I get prob.
triples/quadruples that...
I fell on floor laughing when I read that Googles new GMail service gave
you
a gig of space, that was IIRC "more than anyone needs in a
lifetime", which
was odd as my mail file was well over a gig at the time, despite anti-spam
tactics and being fairly tidy... Having since had a very brutal clearout,
it's still over 300 meg.
So, basically, good luck to BT on keeping my email for 10 years, as with
the
increase in spam and the use of HTML email, they are going to be using a
lot
of disk space on my behalf, multiplied by how many million other users???

This is because of the new privacy and accountability bills going through
parliment, any telco by next year must have some form of monitoring and
accountability of what there uses are viewing and also must store all
emails
for 10 years or something like that.

I have a feeling this is going to be a common problem. I'd have a second
virtual server listening on a non standard port (hopefully the ISP cache
works on ports not content) with an image (even 1 pixel square) on the
other
port- this would/should let you get the real IP.
