If all the parallel connected speakers are the same impedance then you can
just
divide by the number of speakers. eg four 8ohm speakers in parallel =
8/4=2ohms
... you can still use the formula if you want.

1/(1/8+1/8+1/8+1/8)

= 1/(0.125+0.125+0.125+0.125)
= 1/0.5
=2

Same result.... just takes longer and my shortcut ONLY works if all
speakers are
the same impedance.

Putting them in series is perfectly safe but as you increase the impedance
the
amplifier outputs less power.

If you want to add multiple sets of speakers then use a mixture of series
parallel.

eg. 4 sets - wire 2 sets in series - wire another 2 sets in series -
connect the
two series connected sets in parallel.

----8ohm-------8ohm-----
------ ------
----8ohm-------8ohm-----

is effectively

----16ohm-----
------ ------
----16ohm-----

is effectively

-----------8ohm-------------
