[OT] Importing

Just received this bit of good news for smaller items: -

Re: Import Duty

As of July 1, 2004, for all small consignments of goods imported=20
into=20
the United Kingdom from outside the European Union which are=20
declared directly=20
for home use and free circulation and whose duties are equal to or=20
less than =A37, the duty amount will be waived.=20=20
This means that where customs duty is calculated at =A37 (the fixed=20
sterling equivalent of 10 euro for 2004) or below,=20
the amount payable will revert to zero.=20=20=20=20=20=20
The waiver applies to customs import duty only.=20=20
VAT, excise duties and some other duties and taxes will still be due=20
on items with a value less than =A37.
