BUT
Don't forget that bell wire has a comparatively high DC resistance, like
all single-strand thin wire. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up
having nearly as much resistance as the speaker coil (although this
won't be the same as having the same impedance). Once you get to
reasonably thick multistrand copper wire, it really doesn't matter. I
defy anyone to honestly tell me they can hear the difference between
expensive speaker cable and ordinary 5A mains flex at normal domestic
volume levels. We use it for wiring up 200W PA speakers, and it works
just fine.
