I still use Don McAllister's instructions from the old UKHA_Tivo group
(before Yahoo ate it!) - although I use TYTools 8 and WinAmp 5 now.

It basically involves extraction in VSplit mode
Creation of a project with DVD2AVI
Conversion with VFAPI
Extraction of WAV with WinAmp
Editing with VirtualDub
Frameserving with VirtualDub into TMPGEnc
MPEG encoding in TMPGEnc

You can also use VirtualDub to DivX encode (or another codec) rather
than frameserving into TMPGEnc.

So lots of jumping through hoops, but works perfectly every time, unlike
some of the other solutions I've tried over the last while!

I'm pretty sure I still have the doc that Don wrote, and it may already
be in the files area on Yahoo.

If anyone has a 100% reliable way to get into MPEG 1/2 format (depending
on whether it's for download or DVD) and editing out the adverts, I'm
all ears :)

Cheers
