Analogue exchange line interfaces cost about 150 quid by the time
they're this side of the pond. On the extension, side you can either
use an analogue exchange card, VOIP adapters or VOIP phones - none of
these is particularly cheap.
There is no way that asterisk is going to compete cost-effectively
with a low-end 1+6 configuration, but, as a mid-price solution, it is
fantastically flexible and offers some terrific HA possibilities.
