I built a Win XP Pro PC on Friday for use as a CCTV system with my new
Geov=
ision 650 card in it. Left it for the weekend, recording away happily. Got
=
back today to find PC locked up with HDD light permanently on.

I=92m using a WD 80Gb IDE drive which showed similar problems before in a
L=
inux box. At the time, I put the failure down to Linux or the PC I was
runn=
ing (an old dual Xeon machine).

Anyone seen a HDD fail in this way before? Of course, no entries in the
eve=
nt log etc as the hang was fairly severe! Of to try running a SMART check
o=
n it now (for what it=92s worth).

Paul.
