This does sound like the most peaceful option.  It's good to know that CBUs
can be wired in the same arrangement
i.e daisy chained in parallel with the power.

So do it!  My house was wired for X10...but with 2 CAT5s to every light
switch so I could move to a decent bus system like CBus when it became
available/affordable.
