As Alistair says, you can use a little box with 2 RJ45 sockets on it,
but it's usually easier to use the little boxes known as inline couplers
(which are a similar size) with 2x4pair punch-down's inside (as someone
else suggested).=20
They are normally about =A33 quid each for either type.

creates a good clean join.
they are about a quid each, although you will have to buy the extra
cable
of course...
bit of a quick cheap and drag cables round your house way though.. but

has worked fine for me in the past.
