RE: Triple DECT handset + wireless phone line.

The extension idea is nice and cheap as I already have the cable but It's a
real pain getting up in the atic ( no loft ladder / can't install one ).
Ladder's in the cellar + house has 5 floors. SWMBO doesn't like the ladder
hanging about on the staircase for days on end. Can't understand why - I
think it looks really nice.

I don't really want anything that touches the mains wiring as I run X10.
The idea is a wireless connection to the phone base station allowing me to
use the phone line.=20=20

One other idea is a wireless LAN card in the TIVO and setup the much
delaye=
d
WiFi network.

I've seen them in PC World, but I've read on the TivoCommunity.com=20
people having problems with these devices, plus they send signals over=20
powerlines which I'd imagine will give problems with X10. Pretty sure=20
you can get DECT modem sockets, but they're likely to be even more=20
expensive.

How temporary is temporary? - Tivo downloads 2 weeks of terrestrial=20
guide data (plus more for sat etc where it's available) - could you use=20
a big extension lead once a fortnight?
