If he used the camera's software and not just a direct copy from a CF
drive, you may find (well its what happens with my Sony software when I
used to use it) that it copies everything to the windows temp folder
first. %temp% which on this system is

C:\>echo %temp%
C:\DOCUME~1\dbrodie\LOCALS~1\Temp

the best way to check for this is to do a find for *.jpg (or even all
files) with modified date between day they copied them (put a couple of
days infront if unsure) and the day or two after.
