Depends on the make of course but I'd suspect that it will be a little
electronic buzzer on the PCB. Bear in mind that these things are not cheap
if you make a mistake.

Here's the problem, if you tamper with it you will invalidate any warranty
on it at all and, should it need service at some point, the engineer
calling
will probably not have clue what's up without it being put right. This is
especially so if they use electronic diagnosis systems.

My advice, switch the buzzer off, there should be an option to do that.
