Sounds like either the RED or BLUE signals werent getting through. Not all
SCART leads are fully wired but normally if it isnt fully wired you wouldnt
get
anything on RGB. Another possibility is that the TV has not been set up
correctly in the factory.

To prove it isnt the Freeview box could you test it with the DVD player if
that
supports RGB.

One other thought, does the SCART socket you used also support S-Video?

If it does, you could possibly have an incorrect setting somewhere on the
TV
because the pin used for S-Video Chroma is the same pin as used for RGB
RED.

Correct RGB switching may also rely on Pin 16 of the SCART to force the TV
into
RGB mode. My Mitsubishi can be manually toggled between AV1 and AV1-RGB but
my
JVC set can only toggle between AV1 and AV1S, to get it into RGB mode it
MUST
have Pin 16 asserted as well. ( Remember my previous comment about
different
manufacturers doing things in different ways!!!)

Most of the brightness in a TV picture is actually in the Green, losing Red
or
Blue gives a yellowish (no blue) or cyan (no red) picture. Loss of green
leads
to a magenta tinged picture that is also quite dark.
