Allan,
Hal2000 was demonstrated at UKHA2001 (when the event was still held
in London.)
It, notoriously, failed to cope with, well, pretty much any accent
other than my "English Choirboy"...
... specifically, it failed, if I remember, most of the time on Mark
McCall's (NI) and all of the time on Ian Lowe's (Scottish.)
Neither Mark nor Ian is anything other than well-spoken - they just
have different pronounciations reflecting where they grew up.
A bit zero out of ten for voice recognition in my book... and it is
voice recognition that it trumpets as its Unique Selling Point.
Of course, if Habitek are listening, and want to bring an updated
version to UKHA2004, we'd all be interested to see how the state of
the art has moved.
Regards,
Mark
