Well, yes and no.

Bulky seasonal stuff is often sold at a loss at the end of the season.

This is because the cost of storage for the year would exceed the
difference in price acheived.

The "text book" example of this is B&Q air-conditioners.
Every
autumn, some "bargains" come up, and UKHAers complain that their
local store is out of stock... this is because the PURPOSE of the
sale is to make the stores "out of stock".

I would guess that, for most HA-stuff, the usage is not seasonal.
However, now may be a great time to purchase that life-sized X-10-
controllable flashing Santa Claus you lusted after in late November :-
)
