Re: LWM1 X10 Micromodules ?
Mark,
Thanks for the reply, shame about the fuse, I knew it was too good to be
true :)
You are correct that the need a neutral connection and that my wall
switches are
the UK standard switched live only , BUT because of their small size
I could fit them into the actual ceiling rose where there is a neutral
available.
X10 with no rewire (but access to the fuse is still a pain) AND these units
are the
only ones I found that implement status response.
Still can't believe that someone hasn't produced a X10 lighting module in a
ceiling rose style package. This would pretty much solve all the issues
with regard retro fitting. Even if the ceiling rose had to be slightly
oversize to accommodate the electronics it would be worth it. How
complicated are the X10 electronics? Is this something we could do
ourselves i.e. rip the guts of a LW11 ?

Subject: [ukha_d] LWM1 X10 Micromodules ?
> Has anyone used these? They appear not to have a fuse (like the LW11
has),
is this correct?
Nope, they use a radial micro-fuse, it sits in the middle - instructions on
page 10 of the manual.
Manual at : http://www.simplyautomate.co.uk/prodinfo/manuals/LWM1.pdf
Are they the panacea? I don't believe so.
>From memory, they need a full neutral connection, which in most houses
means
re-wiring... at which point LDs are much cheaper. Most UK houses don't have
a neutral rail - they only have a switched live/load, which is, sadly very
different.

Mark
