RE: Electrical box Sinker
Hi Jonathan,
The walls are lightweight block, the builders have fitted shallow back
boxes so they haven't had to chisel out any block and thus save time and
money.
I need to fit standard depth boxes to accommodate the depth of the new
switches and dimmers.
You can buy versions of the back box cutter for brick walls they just
cost more.
I was going for the cutter approach as it will look slightly more
professional given my previous attempts with hammer and chisel on my own
house and the fact that the other half is a bit of a perfectionist!!!
Cheers
Paul

Are the walls brick-built or stud ?
I can only use the smaller depth back-box rather than the *normal* sized
ones as I have brick built dividing walls limiting the depth to the
thickness of the plaster.
Jonathan.

I need to increase the depth of the electrical boxes at
my
girlfriends
in order to fit some IR Capable dimmer switches from B&Q
and
new
sockets.
I was thinking of getting one of the square back box
cutters
that
attaches to an SDS drill as it will come in handy when I
finally buy a
new house.
Can anyone recommend one, the only source I have found
so
far is screw
fix.
Cheers
