Fw: LD11 Loadings

Yes, sorry when I referred to toroidal I meant wire-wound toroidal. I
remember discussions where electronic could put crap back on the wire
which may impact the x10 signals.

I'd use a single 200w transformer rather than multiple 20w ones.

However, I'd try to find a magnetic transformer rather than the more
common
electronic (trailing edge phase) type.

The magnetic will cost more, but be long-term more reliable.

The 700w rating of the LD11 is for a making load on incandescent - you'd
need to work out how to de-rate that for use with a magnetic dimmer, but
I'd
be very surprised if it were as much as a factor of three. (That may well
NOT be the case on electronic dimmers - the derating requirements could be
ludicrously high.)

.... of course, what I'd REALLY do is have each lamp on a separate LD11,
so
they could be progressively dimmed out in groups... but that would involve
faffing aruond with ballast loads and the like, since LD11s are only rated
down to 60w minimum :-)

Regards,

Mark
