RE: Help with New House

OK, I'll be first to say it - you can *never* have too much CAT5. Think
about how much you want, double it, and add a little more. Seriously, it's
so useful, you won't regret it. Possible uses:

Phone lines
Video distribution
Audio distribution
Lighting and power socket control
IR distribution
Data networks
Serial data (such as weather stations)

That's just a quick one off the top of my head. Sure others will chime in
with more uses. As an example, I have very little in the way of HA
running, and 900m of CAT5 is looking pretty puny at the moment!

Cheers,
Andy

Subject: [ukha_d] Help with New House

Hi Everyone,

I have just agreed the purchase of a new house in South London. The
house will need re-wiring and heating added! I am thinking about
getting whole house audio and lighting control added at the same time
as well as everything networked for video/data. I would welcome any
suggestions on things I should be thinking about and if anyone is
prepared to chat to me for a while and give me their thoughts about
such a project that would be fantastic. My email is
chris_purves@xxxxxxx.

Thanks
Chris
