The forums are new, and web based forums always take a little time to
get momentum going. I'm a forum fan - I absolutely *despise* mail lists,
and only stay on a couple (like this one) because of the fine community
and content! On the other hand, some people love mail lists and feel
similarly negative about web forums.

It's quite likely that as the automatedhome forums grow, many people who
are not on ukha_d will join, just as many people using ukha_d will not
join the forums.

I think it would be wrong to try to combine the two, as it will
inevitably lead to people whining on both sides - you either get lots of
subjects spilling onto the mail list that have been done to death (but
are not indexed in anything google can see) or you get random emails
posted in the forum for no apparent reason, and without being part of an
ongoing discussion - which is just daft.

I think the best form of integration is the human element. Users of all
three systems can see when an FAQ question isn't being answered, or when
a forum thread has gone silent and needs some input from experts on the
list.

As always, just my 2EUR

I.
