Re: XDA II - Bluetooth/WIFI ?

Daniel,

Is the Bluetooth issue the one were it won't behave like a fixed COM port ?
I thought there was a software hack out that fixed that..(of course a
firmware fix would be ideal)

Yeap, you can use Bluetooth to connect to your PC.

The XDA II currently has limited bluetooth support. A new ROM update
is coming out at the end of Feb to hopefully address this and a
couple of other issues (There is also a problem with connecting it to
a GPS either via bluetooth or Wired)

However it is still a very useful piece of kit.

I have just set up xmail on it - this lets me view my work email and
files on the xda. its very cool..

I went for a Socket WiFi card, as I use it on the LAN at work and
home.

Compared to an IPAQ its very good - they are both made in the same
factory :-) It has 128Mb of RAM as standard, I have yet to fill it
up!!

I've not yet found any software that won't run on it. - I'm even
running a pocket webserver (PocketASP) on it, to allow quick
development of web apps.

I've had mine since November last year.. now wouldn't be without it -
although its bigger than many of the new Ipaqs, not having to carry a
seperate phone is great.

Battery life isn't bad either, I only charge mine at my work desk,
but it still lasts the weekend without a topup.

HTH

Daniel
