Whats best for..

Do we have a definitive list of options common solutions H/W & S/W

I for instance would like to know what people have found best for motion
detection and capture from web cams for security purposes and Andrew has
asked about media jukebox solutions.

We have whitegoods listings could something similar be setup for common
HA questions, or does it already exist?

Many thanks. (And any advise on the motion capture would be good  as I
have tried Tincam and found it good for the first 24hrs and now it
doesn't capture + it uses 97% system resource!)
