Yep, I've done that tricky part with a CD is getting the image small
enough,
not a great problem with DVD though. I set the swap file to practically
zero
before taking the image which makes it smaller.

And if the image will fit on a dvd or a cdrom, and the laptops got one as
well, then you dont have to fiddle with the network settings for getting
the
image on the new drive, just boot to a floppy with cd /dvd drivers, pop the
image on a cdr or dvd r and ghost the machine from the drive.  Upshot of
that is that you also get a working backup of the state of your laptop as
well.
