RE: ADSL - Firewalls - Routers

Hi Mark,
=20
I use a Vigor 2600, and have installed about 10 now into customer
premises.=
I haven't had any problems with them.
=20
Its definately easier to get working that a server based router solution.
=
The wlan version also works well.

Subject: [ukha_d] ADSL - Firewalls - Routers

In anticipation of our exchange triggering soon I'm starting to look
seriously at the hardware/software options.

I like the sound of the Vigor VoIP enabled router, but a friend in the
business has suggested that I wait a generation or two before buying one of
these.

In the meantime I have the choise of a el cheapo =A340 router that some of
=
my
mates have bought, or I have a 1U server (with Mini-itx board) which
currently shares the ISDN (midband) round the PCs in the house - whats the
best router/firewall package I could put on this? All my experience is
Windows but willing to try eSmith or something relatively idiot proof. I
presume I need to add a second NIC to my 1U machine (there's one slot
available on a rider card) to use it as a firewall?

Help! :)

Thanks

M.
