There is an outside grade CAT5 cable if I remember correctly we had some
installed in out last offices. I had a thicker black sheath, pretty ugly
though :-(. Perhaps check some of the specialist suppliers such as Nimans

Subject: [ukha_d] Cat5 cable for running outside

Guys,

I know it's a bad idea, but do you have any specific recommendations for
Cat5 cable to be run outside ? I'm thinking of sheaths with UV protection
etc, and suitable for clipping to a cable tray.

There was nothing obvious on RS, I'm wondering whether there is an
"outside
grade" of Cat5 ?

Thanks,

Tim H.

(lightning arrestors I've got covered :-) )
